Eligibility Criteria for Design Admissions in Maharashtra

In order to apply for admission to any design college in Maharashtra, candidates have to first ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria of the desired programme. The conditions vary from college to college and must be fulfilled or the candidate will not be allowed to participate in the admission process. The basic eligibility criteria for design admissions in Maharashtra have been listed below.

For UG Programmes

  • The candidate must have completed class 12th (10 + 2) from a recognised board of education
  • The aggregate marks scored by the candidate at the 10 + 2 level should not be less than 45 - 50%
  • Additionally, the candidate must have scored passing marks in all the subjects of the class 12th level
  • For admission to some colleges, English must be a mandatory subject at the 10 + 2 level
  • Some institutes provide admission to the course of B.F.Tech only to candidates who have studied mathematics till class 12th
  • If the institute shortlists candidates based on an entrance examination, it is essential for the applicant to have a valid score in that entrance
  • A few colleges have also set a maximum and minimum age limit and aspirants must abide by that

For PG Programmes

  • It is mandatory for the candidate to have completed his/ her education up to the graduation level
  • Most colleges offer admission to the masters level courses only to the candidates who have a relevant bachelors degree in design
  • For admission to a certain specialisation, some institute demand that the particular specialisation must have been a part of the candidate's UG degree
  • It is essential for candidates to have scored at least 45 - 55% aggregate marks in their bachelor degree
  • If the selection process of the desired college is based on an entrance exam, it is mandatory for the candidate to appear for the exam and score above the cutoff
  • Multiple rounds of the selection process are held by various design colleges which include a written test, a studio test, portfolio submission, personal interview, etc. The candidates will have to clear all the rounds in order to secure a seat

For Diploma/ Certificate Course

  • Candidates must have completed class 12th from a recognised board of education
  • Some colleges also offer admission after class 10th
  • The minimum aggregate is around 45% to 55%
  • Students are either selected based on marks secured in the academic qualification or as per the performance in an entrance exam, portfolio evaluation or personal interview

Application Process for Design Admissions in Maharashtra

Knowing the application process of the college in which you desire admission is of utmost importance. Even a slight mistake can lead to the cancellation of your application form, hence you must be aware of the application process in detail. This includes the step-by-step guide as well as the list of documents required to fill and submit the application form.   • Almost all the colleges provide their application form in online mode. However, there are some institutes that give you the option to apply offline as well
  • Candidates will have to visit the official website of the institute and complete the application process once the application forms are released
  • Before filling the application form, they must check whether they meet all the eligibility conditions specified for the course or not
  • The link to the application form will either be given on the home page of the website or under the tab of 'Admissions' or 'Notifications'
  • Clicking on the link will take the candidate to the registration page of the form
  • First, candidates have to register themselves by entering their name, email address, contact information, etc
  • A verification email will be sent to the address they provide and after that, candidates can begin filling the application form
  • They will have to enter their personal details such as their name, date of birth, address, the qualification of their parents, etc
  • After that, they will be required to provide their academic information. Marks obtained in class 10th, 12th, and graduation (for PG admissions) will have to be entered
  • Candidates might also have to upload scanned copies of their mark sheets
  • Additionally, the applicant will be required to upload their photograph and signature in the format and size prescribed
  • Once the form is filled and all the details have been entered, the candidate will have to pay the application fee
  • In the online mode, candidates can pay the fee through any online payment gateway like net banking, credit/ debit card, e-wallets, etc
  • The offline payment can either be done through a demand draft or bank challan or candidates can visit the institute and pay the fee in person
  • After submitting the form successfully, the candidate must take a print out of the form and receipt and keep it for future use
