B.Arch Admission Process 2020

Those who wish to pursue B.Arch from one of the IITs, NITs or centrally funded institutes in the country have to appear in paper II of JEE Mains exam. After qualifying the JEE Mains paper II, the candidates have to register themselves for the JEE Advanced exam. The JEE Advanced paper is divided into two parts - Part I and Part II and based on the cumulative score obtained by them, admission into B.Arch programme offered at IITs (Indian Institute of Technologies) and ISM (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad. However, for admission into the B.Arch programme offered at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee and IIT Kharagpur, the aspirants must also have a valid AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test) score. Those who wish to try their luck at either of the aforementioned IITs must qualify the JEE Advanced exam followed by registration for AAT and qualifying it.

NATA Scores for B.Arch Admission

Another exam, which goes by the name of National Aptitude Test in Architecture or NATA, helps those aspirants who wish to join the five-years B.Arch programme offered by various other top B.Arch colleges situated in India. NATA is conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA) at the national level. All those institutions which are affiliated to CoA accept NATA scores for admission into the first year of the coveted 5-Years B.Arch programme.

Other National-Level Exams for B.Arch Admissions 2020 in India

Except for the most popular B.Arch admission tests discussed above, there are many national-level entrance exams conducted in various modes for those seeking admission into the B.Arch programme. They are:

  1. HITSEEE - A national-level entrance exam conducted by the Hindustan Institute of Technology (HIT) which is called the Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science Engineering Entrance Exam or HITSEEE for B.Arch admission in the Institute. The exam is conducted in online mode in exam centres located across various cities in the country. HITSEEE 2020 will be conducted in the month of April.   2. GITAM GAT - This online entrance exam can be taken by the aspirants looking for admission into B.Arch programme offered at Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM). Moreover, the candidates need to possess a valid JEE Main (Paper-II) or NATA score to be able to have a chance of securing a seat in the B.Arch programme

  3. AMUEEE - Another national-level entrance exam for B.Arch admissions in Aligarh Muslim University, AMUEEE can be taken by those B.Arch aspirants who have cleared their 10+2 level exam from a recognised University/board and have a valid JEE Main (Paper-II) or NATA score

  4. KIITEE - B.Arch aspirants from all over the country can apply for KIITEE to get into the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT). The applicants must also have a valid NATA score to be able to secure a seat in the B.Arch programme offered at the Institute

B.Arch Admissions 2020 in India via State-Level Exams

Presented below is the list of some of the widely recognised state-level B.Arch entrance exams through which the aspirants can get to their desired programme offered at various state-level institutions:

  1. UPSEE - B.Arch aspirants in the state of Uttar Pradesh can apply for one of the B.Arch offering institutes affiliated to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University through UPSEE provided they have a valid NATA score

  2. KCET - B.Arch aspirants from the Karnataka state who has a valid NATA score can apply for B.Arch admission into one of the Government/Private Aided/ Private Un-Aided Professional educational institutions in the state through KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) which is conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA)

  3. WBJEE - Architecture aspirants from the state of West Bengal can apply for WBJEE through which they will be given admission into the B.Arch programme offered in Universities, Self Financed Institutes and Government Colleges of West Bengal. The applicants must also have a valid NATA score to be able to get a B.Arch college/institution of their choice in the state

  4. IPU CET - Those belonging to National Captial Territory (NCT) Delhi can get into Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) B.Arch programme through IPU CET. Also, applicants with a valid NATA score will be exempted from appearing in the IPU CET and during the seat allotment will be given priority

Similarly, there are several other state-level entrance exams conducted by their respective state authorities like KEAM, OJEE, COMEDK UGET etc through which B.Arch aspirants can start pursuing their dream of building the nation. It is important for the aspirants to, however, have a valid NATA score to be eligible for the seat allotment process in the top institutions. Applicants without NATA scores may get a seat in one of the state institutions on the basis of their 10+2 scores provided there are vacant seats after all the NATA score holders have been allocated seats.

B.Arch Admission 2020 via Architecture Eligibility Test (AAT) (IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee)

AAT or Architecture Aptitude Test is conducted for those who wish to take admission into IIT Roorkee and IIT Kharagpur for pursuing their Bachelors in Architecture. Here are the AAT 2020 eligibility criteria:

  • The applicants must have passed JEE Mains (Paper-II) with the minimum desired qualifying marks

Apply for B.Arch Through JEE Main (Paper-II)

The JEE Mains 2020 application process was divided into 4 steps. The steps have been briefly discussed below:

Step 1: Registration - In this step, the application number is generated along with all the important information which are used in the application form filling step such as password etc

Step 2: Online Application Form Filling - With the help of the application number and password generated in the previous step, the applicants have to completely fill up the online application form along with their personal details

Step 3: Uploading of Scanned Documents - In this step, the applicants have to upload their recent scanned copies of signature and photograph as per the mentioned specifics and format

Step 4: Payment of Application Fee - This is the final step of the application process where the applicants have to submit the required application fee via any of the available payment methods. Apply for B.Arch 2020 in IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee via AAT

The AAT application process for admission into B.Arch programmes in IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee are as follows:

  1. Go to the official website of JEE Advanced

  2. Click on the link that says - Register/Apply for AAT 2020

  3. Enter details like Registration Number of JEE Advanced 2020 and date of birth in the respective boxes

  4. Click on the “Yes” tab available under the question - Are You Interested in AAT

  5. Select your desired exam centre from the list of available exam centres

  6. Click on the “Submit” button to complete the AAT 2020 application process

B.Arch 2020 Admission Process into IITs/NITs/CFTIs

The admission process into B.Arch programme offered at IITs/NITs/CFTIs is divided into the following stages:

Stage 1: Appear in the paper-II of JEE Mains 2020 exam. Candidates qualifying this stage will be shortlisted for the JEE Advanced exam which is the second stage of the admission process for B.Arch programmes in various IITs/NITs/CFTIs

Stage 2: Candidates shortlisted on the basis of JEE Mains (here paper-II) scores have to appear in the JEE Advanced 2020 exam which will pave way for B.Arch admission into the premier institutes of India like the IITs/NITs/CFTIs

Stage 3: The candidates have to participate in the JoSAA counselling process which will comprise of steps like registration, filling up of choices and allotment of seats

Stage 4: After being allocated a seat in the Institute of their choice, the candidates have to visit their respective institutes for the process of verification of documents and payment of admission fee

B.Arch 2020 Admission Process into Various Architecture Institutions in India

Except for the IITs/NITs/CFTIs, most of the Architecture Institutions in India accept NATA scores to offer admission into their B.Arch programme. The admission process for the same can be ramified into these following stages:

Stage 1: The candidates have to appear for NATA which is conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA)

Stage 2: The candidates have to wait until the declaration of NATA result on the official site. Once the result is declared, the candidates have to wait until the release of cutoff scores of various Architecture Institutions accepting NATA scores for admission into their B.Arch programme

Stage 3: Based on the cutoff scores released by the Institutions, the candidates have to follow the rest of the admission process including verification of documents and payment of admission fee

B.Arch 2020 Admission Process into IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee

For admission into B.Arch programme offered at IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee, the candidates also need to have a valid AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test) score. Here is the complete admission process of B.Arch aspirants in the two aforementioned institutes:

Stage 1: Appear in JEE Mains (paper-II) exam and qualify it to be selected for the JEE Advanced exam
