B.Arch Admission Process 2021

The name of those major entrance exams whose scores are accepted for the B.Arch admission process in India by various B.Arch offering institutions are JEE Main (Paper-II) and NATA. Those who wish to pursue their B. Arch studies from one of the NITs or CFTIs have to appear in the second paper of the JEE Main exam and qualify the same. There are some other reputed Architecture institutions as well which accept the JEE Main (Paper-II) scores for offering admission into the B.Arch programme. A similar entrance exam, NATA, is conducted at the All-India level whose scores are taken into consideration by various reputed B.Arch offering colleges/institutions in the country. 

There are only two IITs that offer B.Arch admissions - IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee in which the aspirants can get admission provided they have cleared JEE Main (Paper-II) followed by JEE Advanced and AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test). NATA exam helps those aspirants who wish to join the five-year B.Arch programme offered by various other top B.Arch colleges situated in India. NATA is conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA) at the national level. B.Arch Admission through JEE Main 2021 (Paper 2)

Applicants applying for the B.Arch programme in premier institutes in India like NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded institutions have to appear in the paper-II of JEE Mains exam to be eligible for admission. Here are the eligibility criteria for the same:

  • Applicants must be 10+2 qualified/appearing can appear for the second paper of JEE Main 2020 provided they completed their qualifying level study from a recognised central/state board

  • Applicants who cleared their qualifying exam in 2020, 2019 can also apply

  • Candidates should have obtained the minimum passing marks in their respective qualifying exams to be eligible for B.Arch admission in NITs/CFTIs

B.Arch Admission through JEE Advanced & AAT 2021

AAT or Architecture Aptitude Test is conducted for those who wish to take admission into IIT Roorkee and IIT Kharagpur for pursuing their Bachelors in Architecture. Here are the AAT 2021 eligibility criteria:

  • The applicants must have passed JEE Mains (Paper-II) with the minimum desired qualifying marks

  • The applicants must have passed the JEE Advanced exam with the minimum desirable qualifying scores

B.Arch Application Form through NATA 2021

NATA is conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA) and the scores are used by various national-level and state-level architecture institutions to offer admissions into the first year of their 5-years B.Arch programme. B.Arch Application Form through JEE Main 2021

The JEE Mains 2021 application process was divided into 4 steps. The steps have been briefly discussed below:

Step 1: Registration - In this step, the application number is generated along with all the important information which are used in the application form filling step such as password etc

Step 2: Online Application Form Filling - With the help of the application number and password generated in the previous step, the applicants have to completely fill up the online application form along with their personal details

Step 3: Uploading of Scanned Documents - In this step, the applicants have to upload their recent scanned copies of signature and photograph as per the mentioned specifics and format

Step 4: Payment of Application Fee - This is the final step of the application process where the applicants have to submit the required application fee via any of the available payment methods. After paying the application fee, the candidates have to carefully note down the transaction ID number which will be used in case any dispute arises in the future

Apply for B.Arch 2021 in IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee via AAT

The AAT application process for admission into B.Arch programmes in IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee are as follows:

  1. Go to the official website of JEE Advanced

  2. Click on the link that says - Register/Apply for AAT 2021

  3. Enter details like Registration Number of JEE Advanced 2020 and date of birth in the respective boxes

  4. Click on the “Yes” tab available under the question - Are You Interested in AAT

  5. Select your desired exam centre from the list of available exam centres

  6. Click on the “Submit” button to complete the AAT 2021 application processer

B.Arch Admission Process through JEE Main 2021

The admission process into B.Arch programme offered at NITs/CFTIs is divided into the following stages:

Stage 1The candidates must take the JEE Main (Paper-II) exam. JEE Main (Paper-II) is conducted twice every year and they can appear in either both of the exams or in one (January or April session) and secure the minimum qualifying score
Stage 2A merit list is prepared by the conducting body, i.e NTA by considering the percentile score secured by the candidates. The merit list contains the All India Rank of the candidates
Stage 3The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts the counselling process as per the merit list released comprising of the AIR of the candidates
Stage 4JoSAA allocates seats to the candidates based on the ranks secured by them in the AIR category in various NITs/IIITs/CFTIs

B.Arch 2021 Admission in Private Colleges & Deemed Universities

Except for the IIITs/NITs/CFTIs, most of the Architecture Institutions in India accept NATA scores to offer admission into their B.Arch programme. The admission process for the same can be ramified into these following stages:

Stage 1: The candidates have to appear for NATA which is conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA)

Stage 2: The candidates have to wait until the declaration of the NATA result on the official site. Once the result is declared, the candidates have to wait until the release of cutoff scores of various Architecture Institutions accepting NATA scores for admission into their B.Arch programme

Stage 3: Based on the cutoff scores released by the Institutions, the candidates have to follow the rest of the admission process including verification of documents and payment of admission fee

B.Arch 2021 Admission Process into IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee

For admission into B.Arch programme offered at IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee, the candidates also need to have a valid AAT (Architecture Aptitude Test) score. Here is the complete admission process of B.Arch aspirants in the two aforementioned institutes:

Stage 1: Appear in JEE Mains (paper-II) exam and qualify it to be selected for the JEE Advanced exam

Stage 2: Clear the JEE Advanced exam with the minimum desired cutoff scores and apply for AAT

Stage 3: Appear in the AAT exam at any of the selected exam centres

Stage 4: Wait for the declaration of the AAT result

Stage 5: Participate in the JoSAA counselling and selection process for admission into IIT Kharagpur/IIT Roorkee’s B.Arch programme
