The National Eligibility Entrance Test or NEET 2022 was held on July 17 across 543 exam centres in India and 14 test centres abroad. Through the entrance exam, candidates are being offered admission to around 91,415 MBBS seats, 50,720 AYUSH seats, 26,949 seats in BDS, 1,205 seats in AIIMS, and 250 JIPMER seats. The NEET counselling process 2022 will begin soon by September 25.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct the NEET counselling 2022 for 15% of seats that come under the All India Quota (AIQ) and the respective state authorities will organize the process for admission to the remaining 85% of State Quota seats. Several reputed universities participate in the NEET counselling for the AIQ seats, including state, central, and deemed to be universities. Candidates appearing for NEET 2022 can participate in both All India as well as State counselling of their respective states.

NEET 2022 – 15% All India Quota (AIQ)

NEET 15% AIQ simply means that of the total number of seats available, 15% are to be filled by candidates applying the All India Quota. This includes aspirants from all over the country except for the natives of Jammu & Kashmir (conducted through 85% State Quota seats). There are several government medical colleges offering seats to eligible candidates under the 15% AIQ in NEET 2022. The cutoff for the 85% State Quota seats will be announced by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), the state counselling body.

What is the State Quota in NEET?


In each Indian state, applications are accepted for 85% of the total government medical seats. This indicates that only applicants from those certain states are eligible to fill 85% of the state's available government medical slots.

Who will release the cut offs for 15% All India Quota seats?


The Directorate-General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of MCC will release the cut offs for remaining 15% All India Quota seats.

What does All India Quota (AIQ) mean?


In states where MCI registration is in effect, this implies that institutions reserve 15% of their total seats for students who enrol through AIQ. Since state residence is not necessary for the same, any student is able to apply for this quota.

When will the NEET 2022 counselling procedure begin?


NEET 2022 counselling dates will be announced after the publication of the NEET merit list. Considering that NEET 2022 exam is to be conducted on July 17, students can expect the counselling for the same to begin sometime around August-September.
