Tamil Nadu Engineering (B.E/ B.Tech) Admission Procedure 2022
The engineering (B.E/ B.Tech) admission procedure of Tamil Nadu is completely online. Students must take part in the TNEA counselling process in order to secure admission in B.Tech/ B.E courses offered by Tamil Nadu engineering colleges. On the other hand, the chances of getting admission to the preferred engineering colleges are based on options filled in the candidates in the choice entry. Some of the important guidelines that candidates must remember with regard to Tamil Nadu engineering (B.E/ B.Tech) admission procedure –
You will have fair chances to get admission only if you choose choices/ options based on your TNEA rank/ aggregate marks. It is also advisable to check the previous year cutoff/ opening and closing ranks of colleges to get better clarity.
For example, if you choose the institutions that have rank or cutoff higher than your aggregate marks or score, the chances of getting admission into that particular institution will be less.
Therefore, choose the college that has cutoff or rank at par with your aggregate marks or rank. There is a 100% chance of getting admission into engineering courses.
TNEA web portal will have details pertaining to the opening and closing ranks of the participating colleges. Students will have adequate time to refer to the information and make a decision regarding the choice filling or option entry.
Before the commencement of the counselling process, Anna University releases the merit list of the candidates eligible for B.Tech admission in Tamil Nadu. The merit list will have the name of the candidate, category, rank, and normalised score. Based on the merit list, the candidates can refer to the opening and closing ranks of colleges and cutoff scores so that they can choose the best options during the counselling process. The Tamil Nadu B.Tech admission process is also bound to the reservation policy.
Tamil Nadu B.Tech Selection Process 2022
The B.Tech selection process of Tamil Nadu begins the preparation of the merit/ rank list based on different factors. The selection of candidates for B.Tech admission in Tamil Nadu is purely based on the merit/ rank of the candidates as per the merit/ rank list. The selection of candidates is as follows –
Admission to General and Reserved Category
The selection of candidates for B.Tech admission under the General Category will be based on the marks secured in the prescribed subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The marks secured in these subjects will be reduced to 200 (Physics+ Chemistry = 100 and Mathematics = 100).
The normalisation of Marks and Inter-Se Merit:
For the method of normalisation, the highest marks secured by the students in relevant subjects in Tamil Nadu board exams will be equated with the highest marks scored by the candidates in the same subjects in board exams of other states. After the normalisation process, the qualified students will be merged into a common merit list.
