ISC Class 12 Exam Pattern 2022-23 is set by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination. With the help of exam pattern, students can easily understand the marking scheme, type of questions, evaluation critiers etc. To prepare for their board exams, all students are required to go through the ISC 12th Exam Pattern 2023. English is a mandatory subject for all students preparing for the ISC Exam, and in addition to it, they must choose three, four, or five elective subjects. To receive passing scores in the ISC Class 12 results, students must pass these subjects. The maximum number of subjects for which a student may appear is six, including the mandatory subject i.e English. History, accounting, business studies, math, physics, chemistry, and biology can be opted as elective subjects.

ISC 12th Exam Pattern 2023 - Subject Wise

Two terms will be used to administer the ISC Exam. The multiple-choice questions on this first-term test contrast with the objective and subjective questions on the second-term exam. ISC Exam Pattern 2023 for each subject is mentioned below:

ISC Class 12 Exam Pattern 2023 English

There will be two sections of English: English language and literature. Theoretical and project-based papers will be included in both portions. Project work will receive 20 marks, while the theory paper will receive 80.

Theory Paper will have four sections

Section-1 (20 marks)

Students must write a Composition that is between 400 and 450 words long.

Section-2 

Students are required to write an article, review, or report on a certain topic for this part. (15 marks)

Additionally, students must prepare a proposal on a predetermined situation. (10 marks)

Section-3

This section will include short questions and grammar & structure based questions.(15 marks)

Section-4

This section will include unseen passages in which questions need to read and give answers. (20 marks)

Project work also will have 2 sections

Section-1

This section will include listening and speaking skills. (10 marks)

Section-2

An examiner will visit the school to evaluate the student assessments in this part. (10 marks)

ISC Class 12 Exam Pattern 2023 History

There will be two papers on history as well as project work. The theory paper will be worth 80 marks, and the project work will be worth 20 marks.

Theory Paper

The Theory Paper will be divided into two sections, with part 1 carrying a 20-marks weightage and part 2 carrying a 60-marks weightage.

Part-1

Short questions about basic factual knowledge and syllabus understanding will be included in Part 1.

Part-2

Part to will comprise 5 long questions each question will have weightage of 12 marks

Project work

Students are required to do a project that may involve a case study, a local history, a field trip, a book review, or a film review.

2,000 words should be included in the project.

ISC Class 12 Exam Pattern 2023 Accounts

According to ISC Marks Distribution 2023, accounting will also include two papers: theory and project work. The theory paper will be worth 80 marks, while the project work will be worth 20.

Theory

The theory paper will include 80 marks and both short- and long-answer questions.

Project work

Project work will include of 20 marks

ISC Class 12 Exam Pattern 2023 Business Studies

Business studies will also include two papers: a theory paper and a project. The theory paper will be worth 80 marks, while the project will be for 20 marks. 

Theory paper will have two sections

Section 1 will have brief questions that will be worth 20 marks and assess your understanding of the fundamental concepts in each subject.

Students must respond to any 5 of the 8 questions in Section 2 for a total of 60 marks, with each question worth 12 marks.

Project work

Students must do a project on any topic assigned by the teacher, which must earn them 20 marks.

ISC Class 12 Exam Pattern 2023 Math

Additionally, there will be two papers in math: a theory paper at 80 points and a project paper worth 20 points. The math syllabus will be divided into three sections, with section A being required of all students. Students may then select from sections B or C to tackle the questions.

Theory

Section-A will comprise 65 marks students will need to answer following questions from it.

Relations and functions- 10 marks

Algebra- 10 marks

Calculus- 32 marks

Probability- 13

Section-B will comprise 15 marks students will need to answer following questions

Vectors- 5 marks

Three- dimensional geometry – 6 marks

Application of integrals- 4 marks

Application of calculus- 5 marks

Linear regression – 6 marks

Linear programming – 4 marks

ISC Class 12 Exam Pattern 2023 Chemistry

The two papers in chemistry will cover theory and application. There will be a 70-point theory exam and a 30-point practical exam.

Theory

Theory paper will include mainly 3 units and each will comprise different marks.

Unit- 1 (25 marks) will include the following topics.

  • Solid state
  • Solutions
  • Electrochemistry
  • Chemical kinetics
  • Surface chemistry

Unit-2 (20 marks) will include the following topics.

  • General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Elements
  • p -Block Elements
  • d -and f -Block Elements
  • Coordination Compounds

Unit-3 (25 marks) will include the following topics.

  • Haloalkanes and Haloarenes
  • Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers
  • Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids
  • Organic Compounds containing Nitrogen
  • Chemistry in Everyday Life

Project work

Students will be required to complete a project and evaluation, which the teacher and a visiting examiner will review. The council will then approve it after that.

ISC Class 12 Exam Pattern 2023 Physics

The two papers in physics will cover theory and application. There will be 20 marks for practical and 70 for theory.

Theory

Theory paper will carry 70 marks and the following topics will be asked in the paper.

ISC Class 12 Grading System

The grading system helps the board to assess the performance of the students. CISCE Grading System 2022 is almost the same for both ICSE Class 10th and ISC class 12th examinations. The Grading system is different for the external examinations and the internal assessment. Given below is a tabulated representation of the CISCE Grading System 2022.
