Changes Introduced in UP Board 10th Exam Pattern
UP Board has introduced some changes in the UP Board 10 Exam Pattern 2022-23. These changes have been brought to ease the difficulty for the students. The board exams will be conducted as per the new pattern as per National Education Policy (NEP).
Major Changes in UP Board 10 Exam Pattern 2022-23
Some major changes that are to be introduced by UP Board in the UP Board 10 Exam Pattern 2022-23 are as follows:
- The syllabus for the exam has been revised and reduced by 30% to reduce the load of the students.
- The question papers will be divided into two parts.
- The first part will consist of multiple choice questions which the candidates will have to attempt on an OMR sheet.
- The next part will consist of descriptive questions which the candidates will have to attempt on an answer sheet.
- The question paper will consist of a total of 30% MCQ questions.
- The descriptive questions will constitute of a total of 70% questions in the exam.
- There will be five monthly tests conducted at the schools. Out of these 5 tests, 3 will be MCQ based and 2 will be descriptive tests.
Why is UP Board Bringing These Changes?
The main reason why UP Board has been planning to bring these changes to UP Board 10 Exam Pattern 2022-23 is to discourage the students from rote learning the concepts. UP Board also aims to test the students through continuous & comprehensive assessment rather than blind copy pasting of textbook concepts. The new changes are also aimed to generate a better result for the students, reduce their overall load and also improve the academic quality.

UP Board 10th Exam Pattern 2022-23
The UP Board 10th Exam Pattern 2022-23 can be understood in detail through the points mentioned below:
- The exam will be conducted in the offline mode (pen and paper).
- The subject which are included in UP Board 10th Exam Pattern 2022-23 are Hindi, English Mathematics, Science, Social Science, and Additional Subject.
- The exam will be conducted for a total of 2 hours duration.
- The question papers will be divided into two parts. The first part will consist of 30% multiple choice questions which the candidates will have to attempt on an OMR sheet. The next part will consist of 70% descriptive questions which the candidates will have to attempt on an answer sheet.
- The overall marks as per UP Board 10th Exam Pattern 2022-23 will be 100 marks (80 marks for theory paper and 20 marks for internal assessment).
- The Science subject will consist of 70 marks for theory paper and 30 marks for practical exams.

Marking Scheme For UP Board 10th Exam Pattern

- The overall exam will be conducted for a total of 100 marks.
- The theory exams will be conducted for a total of 80 marks.
- The internal assessment will be conducted for a total of 20 marks.
- For Science, the theory exam will be conducted for 70 marks and practical exam will be conducted for 30 marks.
- The minimum passing marks for all the students is 33% aggregate overall. The students must score at least 33% aggregate in each subject to pass the exam.
- The internal assessment will consist of 5 monthly tests. So, the marking for internal assessment will be divided into 5 tests.
- There will be no negative marking.

UP Board has introduced a grading system for class 10th which will be implemented on each subject. The grades will be provided to the candidates on the basis of marks obtained in the board exam following a 9-point grading system. Grades will be awarded in each scholastic subject. For awarding the grades, the Board will put all the passed students in rank order and will award the grades as follows:
