Valid Subject Combinations and Codes for CBSE Class XI Registration
In contrast to previous years, CBSE has directed all affiliated schools to avoid subject streams for Class 11. Previously, students were required to choose one of the following streams when enrolling in Class XI: Arts, Home Science, Commerce, or Science.
The CBSE Board has allowed students to choose a specific combination of subjects without being limited to one stream in the official notification for 2021-22. It will allow students to study subjects in which they are interested and wish to pursue careers. Students should be aware that they cannot choose subjects at random. CBSE has created sets of valid subject combinations.
Please see the official CBSE curriculum document 2021-22 for more information. On page 18, it is stated unequivocally that there will be no fixed stream. Students may select subjects from Group A and Group S. Group A subjects include elective subjects from all streams.
CBSE also restricts subject combinations; for example, you cannot select both Math and Applied Math. Similarly, you cannot select both Computer Science and Informatics Practices. Aside from some restrictions, other subjects are open to all students in order to diversify their curriculum and knowledge. Check the CBSE website to find out which subject combinations are valid and which are not.
CBSE Class 11 Admission Procedure 2022-23
The CBSE has established guidelines for the admission of students to various classes, including Class 11. We have listed them here for your convenience before applying for admission:
- The "School" shall keep an admission register in the form prescribed by the State Government concerned/Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan/Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, as the case may be, in which the name of each student joining "the School" shall be entered.
- Students must be assigned sequential numbers upon admission, and they must keep this number for the duration of their school careers.
- If a student applying for admission to a school has previously attended another school, an authenticated copy of his last school's Transfer certificate in the format specified in Annexure I must be produced before his name can be entered in the Admission Register.
- A student shall not be admitted to a class higher than that to which he is entitled under the transfer certificate.
- A student shall not be permitted to transfer from one "School" to another during the session after his name has been submitted for the Board's examination. The Chairman may waive this condition only in exceptional circumstances.
- A student who leaves his school at the end of a session or who is permitted to leave his school during the session shall receive an authenticated copy of the most recent Transfer certificate upon payment of all dues. If the head of the institution is satisfied that the original has been lost, a duplicate copy may be issued, but it must always be marked as such.
- If a student from a non-Board institution seeks admission to a Board-affiliated school, he or she must present a transfer certificate duly countersigned by an authority in the format specified in Annexure-I.
- If the statement made by a student's parent or guardian, or by the student himself/herself, if he/she was a major at the time of his/her admission to a school, is found to contain any wilful misrepresentation of facts regarding the student's career, the head of the institution may punish him/her in accordance with the provisions of the Education Act of the State/Union Territory or Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan/Navodaya Vidyalaya.
