- Note: A candidate who fails in one or more subject/s by a deficiency of not more than five (S) marks shall also be deemed to have passed the examination by notionally adding the required marks out af five (5) statutory marks to his/her best advantage, which shall, however, neither be added to the subject nor to the total aggregate. This concession of awarding notional (statutory) marks shall not be available in the practical examination (neither in internal assessment nor external examination).

The board follows a 7-point grading system to provide grades to students in board exams. On scoring 75% marks and above, students will be provided with a grade of “A”. JKBOSE 12th Compartment Exam 2026
In case any of you is unable to get the minimum passing marks as a specified above in any of the subject then they are required to sit for the compartment exams. The compartment exams are usually conducted one or two months after the main results are announced on the official website. You can fill out the compartment examination form with the help of your teachers at your respective schools. You can even apply for revaluation if you are not satisfied with your result. JKBOSE will release the JKBOSE 12th Compartment Exam Time Table 2026 once all the regulations are set and all the application forms are submitted. The supplementary exams will be conducted in June or July 2026. After a month of the exams, the results will be announced online, which can be checked using your roll number.
To be eligible for higher education, you are required to get the minimum passing marks in senior secondary and acquire the passing certificate, along with other certificates as distributed after the results are released. You are required to acquire minimum passing marks in both theory and practical exams separately to get the passing grade in your result.
FAQs
JKBOSE allows students to appear for a maximum of two subjects in the compartment exams. To appear for the compartment exams, the students will have to fill in the compartment exam forms and get the admit cards from schools. Only then they will be allowed to sit for the compartment exams.
If a student is unable to score the JKBOSE 12th Passing Marks for Theory and Practical 2026, he/she will be given the fail status. They will then sit for the compartment exams.
On scoring 75% marks and above in the JKBOSE 12th, the students will be awarded with A grade. The students with a good preparation level can perform well in board exams and get the best grade in all subjects.
In JKBOSE 12th, “A” is the highest grade provided to students. On scoring marks between 75 to 100 marks, students will be provided the highest grade.
In JKBOSE 12th Science stream, the practical exams will be conducted for all subjects. The practical exams will be conducted in their schools for 30 marks. Out of this, students will have to score at least 11 marks.
