ISC, ICSE Grading System 2023: If we talk about the CISCE Grading System 2023, the board follows a completely different grading system pattern when compared with CBSE Grading System or any other State Board. The students are assessed on the basis of their performance in the external examinations as well as in the internals. The external examinations are marked using the percentage method while the internal assessment is done using the grading method.

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) is the regulatory Board governing all the academic activities related to Indian Council for Secondary Education (ICSE) and the Indian School Certificate (ISC). The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) is the Board that conducts the Board Examination for class 10, known as Indian Council for Secondary Education (ICSE) Examinations, and the Board Examination for class 12, known as the Indian School Certificate (ISC) Examinations.

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) Board is considered to be the toughest Educational Board in India. It is known for its unique curriculum, which helps in the overall development of the learners. CISCE Class 10 Marking Scheme 2023: Group-wise Subjects

There are a total of seven subjects in the exam, which are conducted offline. These subjects are grouped into three sections in accordance with the ICSE 10th Exam Pattern 2023:

  • Group I comprises of 4 compulsory subjects

  • Group II will have 2 optional subjects

CISCE Grading System 2023 for Class 10 & 12

The CISCE Grading System 2023 comprises of a nine-numbered-grading scale, with 1 being the highest and 9 being the lowest. These grades are awarded corresponding to the percentage secured by the students in ICSE or ISC examinations. This grading system helps the board to assess the performance of the students.

CISCE Grading System 2023 is almost the same for both ICSE Class 10th and ISC class 12th examinations. The Grading system is different for the external examinations and the internal assessment. Given below is a tabulated representation of the ISC, ICSE Grading System 2023.

CISCE External Examination Grading System 2023

CISCE indicates the performance of the students by conferring upon the grade from 1 - 9. Since 7 is the minimum passing grade one need to acquire to get the passing certificate, Only the grades from 1 - 7 are indicated on the Certificates. The CISCE External Examination Grading System 2023 is as follows:

CISCE Internal assessment 2023

The Internal assessment is adjudged on the performance in SUPW and COMMUNITY SERVICE. SUPW stands for "Socially Useful Productive Work". As the abbreviation states, SUPW is a Social subject and is kept in the timetable of the ICSE and ISC students once a week. Students try to bring about socially productive changes in their near environment. They are awarded grades on the basis of their Socially productive approach. The assessment is indicated by a letter grade, Where 'A' is the highest Grade while 'E' is the lowest. Only Grades A to D is recorded in Certificates. The representation of the grading system is as follows.

The Grading System is almost the same for both ICSE Class 10th and ISC class 12th examinations. The very slight differences lie in the scheme of exams which we will discuss in the next point.

CISCE Passing Criteria 2023

Given below is the Passing Criteria for ICSE and ISC 2023 Examinations. The  Passing Criteria for ICSE and ISC have been elaborated separately:

ICSE Passing Criteria 2023

A student is obliged to secure a minimum of 33% marks in five subjects (severally) including English as well as in aggregate to obtain the ICSE Passing Certificate 2023.

In the Compartmental Examination, the candidates will be permitted to appear for ONE subject only.

ISC Passing Criteria 2023

A student is obliged to secure a minimum of 35% marks in each subject as well as in aggregate to claim the ISC passing certificate 2023. 

Candidates who fail to obtain the Pass Certificates may appear for the Compartmental Examination to be held in July 2023 in any ONE subject in which they have not secured the Pass Mark i.e. 35%. To be eligible to appear for the Compartmental Examination, the candidates should have secured the Pass Mark in English and two other subjects in the ISC Examination

CISCE Compartmental Exams 2023

The criterion for Compartmental Examinations in the CISCE is quite complex. The Students will be given the opportunity to appear only  for ONE subject, In the Compartmental Examination

ICSE Compartmental Exams 2023

If a student fails to secure a minimum of 33% marks in any one subject, subject to passing in English is compulsory, he/she will be given an opportunity to appear for the compartmental exam only for that subject. The student can improve the score and claim the ICSE passing Certificate 2023.

ISC Compartmental Exams 2023

Candidates who fail to obtain the Pass Certificates may appear for the Compartmental Examination to be held in July 2023 in any ONE subject in which they have not secured the Pass Mark i.e. 35%. To be eligible to appear for the Compartmental Examination, it is important for the student to secure the Pass Mark in English and two other subjects in the ISC Examination. The student can improve the score and claim the ISC passing Certificate 2023.

Is there any criteria of compulsory Attendance in ICSE or ISC?

Candidates whose attendance is below 75% of the working days are not eligible to sit for the ICSE examination.

If a candidate has passed in all subjects in the ICSE examination 2023, can he/she reappear in one or two subjects to improve grades?

 

Yes, a candidate may reappear in one or more subjects subsequent to obtaining a Pass Certificate in the ICSE examination. A Supplementary Pass Certificate will be awarded thereafter to a candidate on successful performance in subject/s in which the reappearance has been undertaken.

What are the minimum marks required for passing the ISC 2023 examinations?

A student is obliged to secure a minimum of 35% marks in each subject as well as in aggregate to claim the ISC passing certificate 2023.
