Kerala SSLC assesses a student based on a 9 point grading system with the highest grade value being 9 and the lowest being 1. The grade secured by students in the examination, reflects their performance.

Kerala SSLC Grading System 2023

Kerala SSLC Grading System 2023 is a 9-point grading system with the highest grade value being 9 and the lowest being 1. These grades are conferred to the students by the Kerala Board of Public Examination (KBPE) based on their marks in the Kerala SSLC Class 10th exam. The grading assesses the students on a 9-point scale ranging from A+ then followed by A, B+, B up to E. The grades secured by students in the examination reflect their performance. Students who fail to obtain at least a D+ grade, which is the minimum passing grade, have to appear for the SAY or Save A Year exam. Under the SAY scheme, Students can give the improvement exam only for one subject so that their overall grade gets better.

The maximum marks of the Kerala SSLC 2023 exam are 640, out of which 490 marks are allotted to the written Board exams while 130 marks are assigned for the internal assessment and the rest 20 marks are occupied by an IT Practical exam. The total marks scored by a student out of these 640 marks secures them a grade correspondingly.

Kerala SSLC Grade Card 2023

Kerala SSLC 2023 Result does not contain any details pertaining to the marks obtained by the candidates. The Kerala SSLC Grade card 2023 just depicts the grades. But there are some students who require the statement of marks for admission purposes, such students can send an application to the Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan with a ₹100 draft. Any student who wants to obtain the statement of marks after two years of his/her result declaration needs to follow the same process and submit ₹200 as an application fee.

Generally, colleges demand the marks scored by the candidates to admit the students. In such cases, students can request the Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan for the marks.

Conversion of Grade Points to Percentage

After KBPE declares the Kerala SSLC 2023 Result, students can convert the grade points awarded to them to percentages. After calculating the percentage correctly, the performance of the candidate is identified by different Educational institutes, which follow the Percentage pattern.

To calculate the percentage from the grade points secured in the Kerala SSLC Result, Students can follow the steps given below:

  • Add the grade points secured in each subject. This sum is known as the TGP (Total Grade Point).
  • And then multiply the sum by 1.11
  • So, Percentage =  TGP * 1.11 or TGP* (100/90)

For a better understanding of Grading Calculation Please refer to the table given below:

For eg. Suppose a student scores the following grades in the Kerala SSLC Board exams

SubjectsGradeGrade Point
ChemistryA+9
Political ScienceB6
PhysicsA8
HindiA+9
MalayalamC4
Social ScienceB6
PsychologyB+7
Malayalam 11B6
BiologyD+3
ITA8

Now, the Grade points scored by the student need to be added up:

9+6+8+9+4+6+7+6+3+8 = 66

This 64 is known as the TGP i.e Total Grade Point

So, Finally to calculate the percentage using this TGP, Multiply it by 1.11 i.e.

Percentage =  64 * 1.11 = 71.04%

So, the percentage scored by the candidate is 71.04% which is equivalent to 64 TGP.
