CBSE Class 12 English Deleted Syllabus 2023-24: The Central Board of Secondary Education reduced the Class 12 English syllabus for the academic year 2023-24 along with other subjects in the Science, Commerce, and Arts streams. The CBSE Class 12 syllabus was reduced by 30% in the academic session 2022-23. The CBSE Board has decided to continue with the same changes. The CBSE has reduced topics from the sections like Reading, Writing, and Literature. Moreover, topics like note-making, advertisements, posters, etc. have also been deleted from the CBSE 12th English syllabus 2023-24. Chapter 2 from Flamingo and Chapters 5 and 7 from Vistas are also completely removed from the English syllabus. The Board has decided to set papers based on the 40:20:40 ratio, wherein there will be 40% competency-focused questions (case-based or source-based), 20% response-type questions (MCQs), and 40% short and long answer-type questions.
CBSE 12th English Syllabus consists of three sections namely, reading skills, creative writing skills and literature. The prescribed textbook for the CBSE Class 12 English prose and poetry is Flamingo and Vistas by NCERT. There are two papers in the CBSE Class 12 English, one is English core and English elective. The CBSE Class 12 English exam will be conducted for a total of 100 marks, out of which 80 marks will be allotted for the theory part, and the remaining 20 marks will be evaluated based on internal assessment. CBSE Class 12 English Syllabus: Preparation Tips
CBSE Class 12th exams will be conducted as a single annual examination for the AY 2023-24 as well where the pre-COVID CBSE Class 12 exam pattern will be followed. The entire syllabus will be there in the exam except for the portions that are omitted. Check out the preparation tips provided below:
