CBSE Class 12 Physics Sample Paper 2023-24: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the CBSE Class 12 Physics Sample Paper for the academic year 2023-24 on its official website at cbseacademic.nic.in. Along with the sample papers, it has also published the CBSE Class 12 Marking Scheme 2023-24 of Physics. Students preparing for the CBSE Class 12 Physics exam 2024 are advised to download the CBSE Class 12 Physics sample papers and start solving them within the allotted time to ace their CBSE Class 12 Preparation 2023-24. A total of 100 marks are allotted for the CBSE 12th Physics Exam 2024. Out of these total marks, the theory exam will be for 70 marks, and the remaining 30 marks will be based on the practical exam.
The CBSE Class 12 Physics question papers are based on the latest CBSE Class 12 Physics syllabus 2023-24 and exam pattern. Students will be given 3 hours of exam duration for both theory and practical exams. CBSE Class 12 Physics syllabus comprises 9 units which are further divided into 14 chapters. Among these chapters, Electromagnetic Waves and Optics will be carrying the highest marks in weightage. Moreover, for the AY 2023-24, the Board came up with some modifications in the CBSE class 12 syllabus, where there will be 20% MCQ type questions, 40% competency-based questions, and 40% questions short answers and long answer type questions based on constructive responses. As per the exam dates released by the Board, the CBSE class 12 exam 2024 will be conducted from February 15 to April 10, 2024. CBSE Class 12 Physics Sample Paper 2023-24: Key Points
Some of the major points to note for the CBSE Class 12 Physics Sample Paper are as follows:
- A total of 3 hours will be there to complete the whole CBSE Class 12 Physics question paper.
- The CBSE Class 12 Physics question paper will contain a total of 33 questions and all the questions are compulsory.
- The question paper will be divided into 5 sections, Section A, Section B, Section C, Section D and Section E.
- All the sections will be compulsory.
- Section A will comprise sixteen questions, twelve MCQ, and four Assertion Reasoning for 1 mark each, Section B will have five questions of two marks each, Section C will contain seven questions of three marks each, Section D will contain two case study questions of four marks each and Section E will have three long answer questions of five marks each.
- There will be no overall choice. However, an internal choice will be provided in one question in Section B, one question in Section C, one question in each CBQ in Section D, and all three questions in Section E. Students will have to attempt only one of the choices in such questions.
- The use of calculators will not be allowed.

Steps to Download CBSE Class 12 Physics Sample Paper 2023-24
Follow the steps given below to download the CBSE Class 12 Physics sample papers from the official website of the CBSE board:
- Step 1: Visit the official website of CBSE - cbseacademic.nic.in.
- Step 2: You will find the option "Sample Question Paper" on the homepage.
- Step 3: Click on "Sample Question Paper", a dropdown list of Sample Question Paper Options will be shown. Select the year of the CBSE Sample Question Paper.
- Step 4: Then, choose the Class XII option.
- Step 5: You will be redirected to a new window where you will find the subject-wise CBSE 12th Sample Question Papers.
- Step 6: Select the subject ‘Physics’ and download the CBSE 12 Physics Sample Question Paper.
- Step 7: Save the question paper pdfs and practice them.
