The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has released the official datesheet 2026 for the April-May session, and the NIOS Class 10th theory exam 2026 will be conducted from April 10 to May 6, 2026. The exams will be conducted for three hours, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm, at all examination centres, except for vocational subjects.
Moreover, the NIOS practical exam for Class 10th is being conducted from March 17 to April 1, 2026. The NIOS is expected to release the admit card anytime soon in the last week of March 2026.

For the 2026 session, NIOS has introduced more Competency-Based Questions to align with the National Education Policy (NEP).
- Competency-Based Questions: 40% (Application and case-study based).
- Objective/MCQs: 20-30% (Direct one-mark questions).
- Descriptive: Short and long-answer questions.
- Passing Criteria: Unlike Class 12, Class 10 students need a cumulative 33% to pass. This means your marks from Theory + Practical + TMA are added together to hit the passing threshold.

NIOS 10th Board 2025: Preparation Tips
For the open school students, it is quite important to maintain a proper study plan due to the lack of regular classes. The preparation tips will help them perform well in the exam. Here are some tips to prepare for the NIOS 10th Exam 2025:
- First and foremost, make an effective study plan and follow it dedicatedly. Devote more time to the subjects you are weak in. A minimum of 7-8 hours must be allocated to study.
- Know your NIOS 10th syllabus very well as this will enable you to bifurcate the syllabus into two groups and accordingly organize your study plan better.
- To prepare well for the NIOS 10th exam, you must ensure that you have all the necessary textbooks and reference books.
- After completing your NIOS 10th syllabus, ensure to practice the sample papers and NIOS previous year's question papers regularly within the allocated time. This will boost your confidence level.

NIOS exam has the same difficulty level as any other state board exam. With proper determination and a perfect study plan, the students can generally score a good percentage in the board exam. NIOS mark sheet and all certificates related to the results are issued and dispatched after 25 days of the result declaration. The students will receive the mark sheet and certificates at the address mentioned at admission.
The NIOS board authorities conduct the exams two times in one academic year. The first exam cycle is conducted in March or April, and the next is conducted in October and November.
For the April session, NIOS 10th practical exams were conducted from 16th to 31st March 2023, and theory examinations were conducted from April 6 to May 8, 2023. For the October session, the date sheet is not yet available by the NIOS authorities, and it can be revealed in September 2023.
No, the students for the secondary examination cannot request the revaluation of the result. The revaluation of the result is only reserved for senior secondary students, who can do so by visiting the official website of NIOS and filling out the revaluation form.
