The UP Board grading system is almost the same as that for CBSE, with a few changes in the passing criteria.

The UP Board exam assessment is done on the basis of the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) pattern. As per the CCE pattern, the theory exam constitutes 70 marks while the practical and internal test accounts for 30 marks. The UP Board Grading system is more or less similar for both class 10th and 12th examinations. However, it is different for practical and theory exams. In addition to this, the grades are awarded separately for theory and practical examinations. Once the results are out for both Class 10 & 12, students can take our Career Compass Test to analyse which stream or career is most suitable for them & then they can take decision related to their further education accordingly.

Calculation of UP Board 10th, 12th Grade 2023 using Percentage

To calculate Grade Points, the following formula is to be used:

CGPA Formula = Total of grade points obtained in subjects / Total number of subjects.

  • After calculating the grade point of each subject, add all the grade points.
  • Divide the sum of the grade points by the total number of subjects and the final value thus obtained will be the UP Board Grade Point Average (GPA).

For eg, suppose a UP Board Class 10 student secures 8 Grade points in English, 8 in Hindi, 9 in Mathematics, 6 in Science, and 9 in Social science. So, as per the data, the sum of the grade points i.e. 8+8+9+6+9 = 40. Now, if we divide this sum by the total number of subjects, we get 8 as the GPA i.e. 40/5 = 8.

So, the Overall GPA is 8 and the grade is B1.

Conversion of GPA to Percentage

The students can follow a simple procedure to convert their GPA into percentages. Check out the simple procedure from the pointers given below:
  • To calculate the percentage using the GPA scores, the following formula is to be used:
  • Percentage = GPA X 9.5
  • For eg, Percentage in Above Example = 8 X 9.5 = 76%
