Bricks, Beads, and Bones The Harappa Civilisation is the first chapter in the CBSE Class 12 History syllabus 2025 on the Harappan civilization. The chapter delves into the Harappan civilization's culture, trade, and urban planning. The primarily focus of this chapter is on the archaeological remains of the Indus Valley Civilization, also known as the Harappan Civilization.  These relics, ruins, antiquities, fossils are characterized by the intricate bead-making techniques, widespread use of baked bricks for construction, and the presence of animal bones which shows their agricultural practices. The chapter 1 of the History syllabus essentially highlights the key aspects of this ancient civilization through these artifacts. The important topics that are to be covered from this chapter are archaeological findings, social structure, trade, daily life, urban planning, craft production, subsistence strategies, domestic architecture, and the Citade.

In CBSE Class 12 exam, History curriculum 2025 consists of three parts: Themes in Indian History Part--I, Themes in Indian History Part--II, Themes in Indian History Part--III. All the three parts will carry a weightage of 25 marks with 60 number of periods. This will make a total of 80 marks in the theory paper, and the remaining 20 marks will be in the internal assessment.
