CBSE Class 12th Political Science Chapter 4 - India’s External Relations: It is an important chapter that includes wide details about the external relations of the country. In Chapter 4, the students will get introduced to the important topics such as the International Context. The students will also learn about The Policy of Non-Alignment, under which they will get familiar with Nehru's Role, Distance From Two Camps, Afro-Asian Unity. In addition, they will learn about the Peace and Conflict with China, where they will get information about Tibet and The Chinese Invasion, 1962. The students will also learn about the Wars and Peace with Pakistan, Bangladesh war, 1971, and India’s Nuclear Policy.
Based on the syllabus, students will have to answer a variety of short and long questions. The questions will be asked for different marks. According to the marks allocation, students should decide the length of answers and add the required points. They can get questions based on Nehru’s role such as - “Why did Nehru regard conduct of foreign relations as an essential indicator of independence? State any two reasons with examples to support your reading.”
From the chapter, there can be different types of questions, such as:
Q.1 - Identify any two aspects of India’s foreign policy that you would like to retain and two that you would like to change, if you were to become a decision maker. Give reasons to support your position.Q.2 - India’s foreign policy was built around the principles of peace and cooperation. But India fought three wars in a space of ten years between 1962 and 1971. Would you say that this was a failure of the foreign policy?
Q.3 - Describe any two major issues of conflict between India and Pakistan leading to the war of 1971.
Q.4 - Explain any four important features of India’s Nuclear Policy.
In the question paper, there will be questions for 1 mark, 4 marks, and 5 marks. The students should add relevant points in the answers as per the marks allocation. The students should also be prepared for picture-based questions. Studying the picture, students will have to answer the questions related to it.
